The SV-AV100 is the first of a new kind of video camera that records in the MPEG2 format onto SD Memory Cards. This ultra-compact "credit-card sized" video camera is incredibly small and remarkably light at 33.2 by 89.8 by 64.9 mm and only 156 grams (1.3 by 3.5 by 2.5 inches and 5.5 ounces) without battery and SD Memory Card. Proprietary technology, developed by Panasonic, has raised SD Memory Card data storage rates to the level necessary for DVD-quality playback. The SV-AV100 can be switched between MPEG2 (the same format as DVD video) for high quality recording and MPEG4 for video e-mail and other applications that benefit from a high compression rate.
