This is a Japanese domestic market recorder released June 1, 1999 . It
is not yet available outside Japan.
Key features:
- 10 hours of play, or 6 hours of recording, on a single NiMH battery. Recharge
time: 3 hours.
- 14 hours of play, or 2.5 hours of recording, on a single AA external battery.
- 25 hours of play, or 12 hours of recording, on a single NiMH battery and
the external battery case.
- Size: 84 x 77 x 18.9mm; for reference, the dimensions of the R55 are 84
x 78.9 x 18.9, the Panasonic is smaller than the Sony R55 by 1.9mm on one
side
- Weight: 136g (without rechargeable battery cell), 161g with rechargeable
battery cell
- 2 lines of 12-character display on the unit with a small jog dial. Titling
done by turning and clicking the jog dial
- Small Remote control with backlight, 6 character LCD
- Remote display: track name, play time, battery life, play mode, & sound
quality.
- Frequency. response: 20-20kHz. Headphone amp: 5mw + 5mw
- Inputs: line, optical, mic. Output: headphone.
- English and Japanese Kana song title entry
- Train function: reduces sounds that may annoy others around you.
- Title search function allows another track to be selected by name while
unit is playing.
- Track skip.
- Track titling while playing the track.
- Monoral, double time recording.
Editorial Note: The small jog dial is fantastic!! It does
not distract from the design and it makes track and MD titling extremely easy. It's well
designed too, making the characters sooo.. easy to enter. Nice job Panasonic!!
